Outcomes Based Accountability (OBA)

Outcomes Based Accountability (OBA) is a disciplined and efficient way of thinking and moving from talk to action.

OBA can be used to improve wellbeing across communities and to improve the performance of services and agencies. The OBA model offers tools and a coherent framework for strategic planning, evidence based commissioning and monitoring what works to improve outcomes.

How can we help your organisation through OBA?

Outcomes UK offers a free meeting to discuss local needs, context and then develop a tailored proposal of work, which can include:

  • The OBA Champion programme – building local capacity and ownership.
  • Training and workforce development in the OBA approach – achieving long-term cultural change.
  • Training the trainers locally in spreading and embedding the tools across services and partnerships.
  • Devising an outcome based performance management system.
  • Developing an outcomes based commissioning framework.
  • Moving towards being a ‘Good’ or ‘Outstanding’ performing Authority, the key steps on the journey, and how OBA can help.
  • Evaluating whether services and partnership work is making a difference (improved outcomes).
  • Using OBA to enable cost efficiencies (outcomes based budgeting).
  • The programme can be delivered in locations and at times to suit your staff, and can be evolved into a ‘train the trainer’ for large cohorts of candidates.

Outcomes UK is passionate about making a difference to children's and adults lives and is committed to public sector values, high quality services and inspiring others to become outcomes driven.

Outcomes ‘Champion’ Programme

Spurgeons are delighted to work with Outcomes UK on implementing Outcomes Based Accountability. Our partnership with Outcomes UK has been invaluable in helping us develop a route map, train and equip a team of Outcomes Champions and acting as encouragers and facilitators through the process. Their consultants have been extremely helpful in their approach, offering an understanding of both the children’s sector and wider external environment. They have offered us insight into the journey and without their experience we would have been much less focused in our implementation and probably wasted valuable time and resource by taking a wrong turning.
