What is a Social Worker (for fostering)?
A Social Worker specialising in fostering is essentially an individual who works closely with fostering families to assess their suitability to foster and provide any necessary support. As a Social Worker, you will be expected to provide potential and existing fostering families with information and support, as well as the support of others you deem beneficial to the particular placement you are working with. In this role you will have support from a multi-disciplinary team of various support workers, therapists and education officers who will meet regularly to discuss how to go about providing the appropriate support. You will play a keen role in such meeting and as a Social Worker specialising in fostering, you will be expected to assess and review the situation of the fostering family at hand so as to provide them with the best suited care.
