Associate credentials – Experience as a Social Worker (fostering)

Our Associate graduated as a Social Worker 1988 and has since gained a wide range of experience across a range of roles. In 1999, the Social Worker took her first role within the fostering arena and chose to specialise in this area, working as a Supervising Social Worker, Senior Practitioner, Team Manager and IRO. She has experience of working within both statutory and private sectors.

What is a Social Worker (for fostering)?

A Social Worker is essentially an individual who works closely with fostering families to assess their suitability to foster and provide any necessary support. As a Social Worker, you will be expected to provide potential and existing fostering families with information and support, as well as the support of others you deem beneficial to the particular placement you are working with. As a Social Worker, you will not be expected to work alone. Rather, you will be one of a multi-disciplinary team of various support workers, therapists and education officers who will meet regularly to discuss how to go about providing the appropriate support. For these meetings the Social Worker will be expected to assess and review the situation of the fostering family at hand so as to provide them with the best suited care.
