Sustainability & Environmental Policy

Introduction

Outcomes UK Limited is a Department for Education & Skills preferred provider of Children’s Services consultancy. We utilise experienced practitioners working in partnership with the client to facilitate service change, service improvement and staff development across social care, education and health.

Outcomes UK Limited operates across England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales

The focus of our work centres upon the improvement of services for children and young people, achieved through the interplay between the following complementary strands:

This policy outlines the framework developed by Outcomes UK Limited to manage the effects that our operations may have on the environment. We fully recognise our general duty of care for the environment and will assess the environmental impact of all our activities and, by active risk management and good operation, strive to ensure the prevention or reduction of adverse effects and work within the requirements of ISO 14001.

General Statement

Whilst it is considered that the operations of the organisation do not have a significantly detrimental effect on the environment, our operations will be conducted with due consideration being given to sustainability and the limited use of natural resources.

Outcomes UK will follow the principles of Reduce, Reuse, Repair, and Recycle in managing its environmental impact. Using the 4 Rs will not only minimise environmental impacts, it also makes sound economic sense.

We will comply with all legal requirements in areas where we carry out our activities to prevent damage to the environment.

We will ensure that wherever we are operating and whatever our activities, we do everything possible to:

  • Prevent pollution of the environment, 
  • Minimise the use of energy, 
  • Conserve natural resources and reduce waste
  • Encourage our clients, associates and suppliers to do likewise.

Outcomes UK are committed to seeking continual improvement in its environmental performance by:

  • Identification of any aspects of the organisation’s activities, which have or could have a significant impact on the environment and that can be controlled and influenced in order to reduce any adverse effects.
  • Minimise the use of energy, resources consumed and waste produced while undertaking our organisation’s activities in a safe and professional manner.
  • Complying with relevant legislation and regulations.
  • Minimising the environmental effects of our activities to a practical minimum by the prevention of pollution, the reduction of waste and the efficient use of energy.
  • Support the reduction, re use and recycling of materials such as paper, printer cartridges etc and ensure the legal disposal of all waste arising from the activities of the organisation.
  • Promoting the efficient use of energy.
  • Developing a sense of environmental responsibility and competence among staff and our associates through training and provision of adequate and appropriate information.
  • Minimising the effects of air pollution by using vehicles with low exhaust emissions and shared usage wherever practicable.

Outcomes UK Limited will provide, as far as is reasonably practicable, adequate resources to meet our commitments to minimise the effects our business has on the environment, and to promote a positive attitude to environmental issues.

Organisation and Arrangements

The Chief Executive has overall responsibility for monitoring that the organisation complies with the terms of the environmental policy.

No environmental policy will work without the co-operation of employees at all levels. Outcomes UK Limited encourages all employees to observe and contribute to the development of this policy and to identify ways in which our commitment to environmental issues can be enhanced.

Employees and associates must inform their managers of any shortcomings in environmental issues when they become aware of them.

Review

This policy is subject to formal review annually or when significant changes affect its content.
